General Information
Figure 1 shows a freestanding carport.
The structure consists mainly of bamboo pole columns, bamboo pole beams, bamboo pole purlins, and zinc roofing sheets.
Front Column
Figure 2 shows a roof sector viewed from below.
The top ends of the columns have a two-ear cut, and the roof system is stacked. The beams and purlins are fastened with bamboo strips, while the zinc sheets are nailed on the purlins. Figure 3 shows a front view of the carport.
The longitudinal column spacing l ≅ 3 m, and the transverse spacing w ≅ 2.5 m.
Figure 4 shows a front view of front column B.
Front column B is taller and directly connected to the zinc sheets, causing an opening on the roof surface. Figure 5 shows a side view of the top end region of front column B.
Front column B and the longitudinal beam are not structurally connected.
Bamboo Powder-Post Beetle
Figure 6 shows a roof sector viewed from below.
The transverse beams are infested by the bamboo powder-post beetle, causing small holes and bamboo powder. Figure 7 shows an enlarged view of a roof structure sector viewed from below.
